Accessibility Guidelines

At The RESPECT Project, we strive to make our website accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. We are committed to ensuring that everyone can access the information and resources available on our site. To achieve this goal, we have developed the following accessibility guidelines:

  1. Provide alternative text for images: All images on the website should have descriptive alternative text (alt text) to ensure that users with visual impairments can understand the content.

  2. Use clear and consistent headings: Headings should be used to structure the content properly. They should be descriptive, hierarchical, and consistent throughout the website, making it easier for users with screen readers to navigate and understand the page structure.

  3. Ensure keyboard accessibility: The website should be fully functional using only a keyboard, without the need for a mouse or other pointing device. All interactive elements, such as links and form fields, should be accessible via keyboard navigation.

  4. Provide captions and transcripts for multimedia: Any multimedia content, such as videos or audio files, should be accompanied by captions or transcripts. This helps users with hearing impairments to understand the content.

  5. Use colour contrast effectively: Text should have sufficient contrast with the background to ensure readability for users with visual impairments. A color contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 should be maintained for normal text, and 3:1 for large text.

  6. Ensure resizable text: Users should be able to resize the text without losing functionality or content. Avoid using fixed font sizes, and make sure that the website layout remains intact when text is resized.

  7. Make forms and error messages accessible: Forms should be designed to be accessible, with clear labels, error messages, and instructions. Users should be able to understand and complete forms easily, including those using assistive technologies.

  8. Provide skip links and landmarks: Include skip links at the top of each page to allow users to jump directly to the main content, bypassing repetitive elements like navigation menus. Use ARIA landmarks to provide additional navigation cues for screen reader users.

  9. Ensure compatibility with assistive technologies: Test the website with popular screen readers, magnification tools, and other assistive technologies to ensure compatibility and proper functionality.

  10. Continuously test and improve accessibility: Regularly conduct accessibility audits and user testing to identify and address any accessibility barriers or usability issues. Stay up to date with accessibility best practices and guidelines.

By following these accessibility guidelines, we aim to create an inclusive and user-friendly experience for all visitors to www.responsibleconsumers.eu. We value feedback from our users and are committed to improving accessibility based on their input.
